Kzn News Update
Below is the news from our eastern shores - Kwazulu Natal - which managed to slip through our 'news' editor's fingers at the time of SA Mountain Magazine going to print...appologies to those affected!

The Lab in Kloof Gorge has seen much of the latest action, largely due to the fact that it dries quickly after rain.
After having it’s very rusty bolts and a piton removed and replaced with new shiny bolts “Electromagnet” (28) was red pointed by Rodger Nattrass, Scott Sinclair and Dave Drummond. Also at the lab, Simon Lowe made a speedy red point of “Static Patens” (29).
A group of local (Kzn) climbers went on a road trip to the Cape provinces during December, and did some solid sending. The first stop was Outshoon.
Both Brigitte Laurent and Rachelle de Charmoy red pointed “Goonie goo goo”(22) with Rachelle also going on to send “Rapscallion la Codge” (24). Nadine Methner crancked hard, flashing “Phallic Mechanic” (24) and red pointing “Paws”(26) and “Lost Safari”(28).
Not to be out-done, the guys also did some cranking. Simon Lowe proved that hard work and dedication pay off by onsighting “Paws”(26) red pointing “Jonny Rotten”(27) and “Seven's whimpish finnish”(29) on his second go, as well as “El nino”(30 and “Up for Grabs”(31).
Mathieu Schnoelie Flashed “Jonny Rotten”(27), onsighted Sid Vicious”(27) and redpointed “El nino”(30) and “Seven's whimpish finnish”(29).
Benjamin de Charmoy was not left behind and he redpointed “Jonny Rotten”(27) on his second go, as well as “Sevens whimpish finnish”(29) , “El nino”(30) and “Up for Grabs”(31).
Justin De Jongh pushed his limits by sending “Jonny Rotten”(27) and along with Andrew Scott also sent “Phallic Mechanic” (24) and “Fin Fang Fly”(24)
Showing their versatility, they moved on to do some bouldering at Red Hill, Justin sent “Rolling Stones” (7a+), Simon did “Singers” (hard 7a+) and Rachelle sent “Soaring Bandicoot”(6b), Dark Lord Sharon” (7a) and “Rolling Stones”(7a+) |
