Kliphuis closure and Rocklands access at risk. - Mark Johnston (MCSA)

Looks like the Kliphuis campsite has been closed until further notice, but far worse is the dodgy activity that may put access to Rocklands at risk. Mark Johnston had this to say.

"Just got confirmation from CapeNature that the Kliphuis campsite has unfortunately been closed. Basically they don't have anybody to run the place. They say they might try and open it in time for the winter bouldering season, but don't hold your breath. NB. When I first phoned CapeNature reservations about this they had no idea that the campsite was closed, so it's entirely possible that you could still make a booking for the place...

Then, it has also come to the attention of the MCSA that visitors to Rocklands have been opening the CapeNature gate and driving up to the Roadside Area. It is not clear if climbers or boulderers are involved, but please take note that if CapeNature becomes aware of these sort of activities, the access consequences for climbing in the Rocklands area could be dire - i.e. closure to climbing! Let's not forget the hard work that's gone into keeping the Cederberg open to climbers. It would be a huge shame if this access was jeopardized due to the actions of a few people. If anyone is aware of these sort of activities by climbers, then please communicate to them asap that this is strictly not permitted. Only CapeNature staff are permitted to drive vehicles in the Rocklands area."
