Visit Tibet & Everest's northern basecamp.- Ronnie Muhl

An amazing opportunity presents itself to visit Base Camp (5200m) and Advanced Base Camp (6450m) with expedition leader Ronnie Muhl in April 2008.

This all inclusive full service expedition is being organized by MB Mountain Adventures cc and has been tailored to suit all levels of fitness. No climbing skills are required, but trekking experience would be an advantage.

The journey begins in the bustling city of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. From Everest Basecampthere we fly to Lhasa and then drive via Shigatse to base camp. There are wonderful and unique places to visit along the way. From Base Camp we will be able to visit the famous Rongbuk Monastery, the memorial to George L Mallory, and you’ll be able to trek up the east Rongbuk glacier with it’s magnificent views of the north face of Mt. Everest and Pumori. There will be an opportunity to spend a few nights in Advanced Base Camp before heading back to Kathmandu via Nyalam, Zangmu and Kodari. The duration of the journey is 23 days.

 1. The full service cost for this trip is USD 3995.00. This price excludes the flight to and from Kathmandu. A deposit of 20% (USD 799.00) is required to confirm the booking.

2.  Subject to availability, Qatar Airlines are currently the most competitive airline to use. Their costs ex Cape Town are R8472.00 inclusive of all taxes and ex Johannesburg R7972.00 inclusive of all taxes. These prices can change at any time, so it is always best to book and pay for these flights sooner rather than later.

3.  The full service cost covers the following:

  • Travel & trek permit, road maintenance fee and govt. taxes
  • Chinese visa fee and custom clearances.
  • Four night's hotel in Kathmandu on twin sharing BB basis as per itinerary.
  • One way airfare Kathmandu - Lhasa
  • Guided sightseeing tour in Lhasa with guide & private transport
  • All hotel accommodation enroute on full board basis from Lhasa to Rongbuk
  • All transport by private land cruiser as per itinerary.
  • Transport of all equipment by truck.
  • Private bus from Kodari to Kathmandu
  • Chinese guide/liaison officer in Tibet
  • One head trek guide
  • Cook and kitchen boy.
  • Necessary Sherpa staff
  • Necessary number of yaks from BC-ABC-BC
  • All necessary camping gear and kitchen gear from Day 10
  • High quality tent with sleeping mattress
  • All food and drink while on trek.
  • Oxygen with regulator set for medical purposes.
  • Gamow bags
  • Arun down jackets/sleeping bags, if required.
  • Insurance of climbing Sherpa and local team members
  • All airport/hotel transfers
  • Celebration meal.

4.  The trip will require a minimum number of 10 participants to take place.

5.  At this stage the proposed departure date is Wednesday, 16th April 2008. This date is proposed because of flight availability. Right now there are flights available, but I would need to get final confirmation from interested parties as soon as possible to go firm on that date as well as to ensure you a place in our trekking team.

I look forward to hearing from you and would be pleased if you decided to join our group to spend some unforgettable weeks together at the foot of Chomolunga, the “Mother Goddess of the Universe”, as Everest is known by the Sherpas.
