Australian Climbing Festival - Easter 2007.

If you ever wanted to head down under to check out the spectacular climbing they have to offer this is an opportunity you wan't want to miss out on....


"If there are any readers of SA mountain magazine who plan to head to
Australia on a climbing trip any time soon then Easter 2007 is the
time to do it, and the Blue Mountains is the place to go.

Over the Easter Long Weekend 2007 the Blue Mountains, one of the most
spectacular climbing and adventure sport destinations in Australia, is
going to be home to the Australian Climbing Festival - bringing
together some of the worlds most inspirational adventurers and
climbers, some of the best adventure and climbing films, spectacular
climbing competitions, clinics, live music, arts and lots more!

14 SPEAKERS ALREADY CONFIRMED
* Four international speakers including PETER CROFT
* 10 of Australia and New Zealand's prominent adventurers and climbers
including JON MUIR and TIM McCARTNEY-SNAPE

OZ MOUNTAIN FILM FEST (non-stop adventure films all weekend)
* Adventure film competition with over $1000 worth of prizes.
* Best of the Banff Mountain Film Festival - Climbing Selection.
* New talent and old favourites

CLIMBING COMPETITIONS
* Escalade Climbing Championships' 07 - elite level difficulty, speed
and dyno competitions on a spectacular custom-built wall.
* Beal Slack Lining comp - over an outdoor pool.

MOUNTAIN MUSIC AND ARTS
* Lowepro Vertical World Photography Competition (with $5000 worth of
prizes) and Gallery
* Art of Climbing Gallery
* LIVE MUSIC from Midday 'til late both days
* High Times Short Story Comp - (with $1000 worth of prizes)

FUND RAISING
* To contribute to the international community the festival will be
hosting a Giant Outdoor Gear Garage Sale, with all proceeds going to
the Australian Himalayan Foundation.
* 10% of all festival profits will go to the fledgling Australian
Access Fund, preserving cliff environments.

LOCATION: THE BLUE MOUNTAINS
The Blue Mountains is just west of Sydney and is the perfect location
for the festival, being one of the best climbing destinations in
Australia with over 3400 climbs in a stunning World Heritage listed
wilderness.(see photo gallery) Easter traditionally offers some of the
best weather in the Blue Mountains for climbing.
